About This Site
This site is built in a "manual 'til it hurts" fashion, editing raw HTML with Emacs (I'm not that much of a masochist that I use Notepad...) and the standard UNIX shell tools; along with this, I'm trying to hyperlink as much as possible.
The idea behind these handicaps is to force me to develop a hand-crafted style for each page, and to force myself to fully engage with the design process instead of hiding behind the intellectualization of static site generators; while these tools allow one to focus on the "content" of their blog or what-have-you, I don't want to focus on the content; I want to be distracted, to let the design of my site grow beyond any hope of meticulous grooming and hemming and hawing over whether the site is safe to be seen by employers or evil exes or fascist government jackboots. This way, maybe, I can be myself, and I can learn for real whether its safe for my anxieties to leave me unsupervised. Who knows, maybe I'll even feel emboldened to learn in public!
